Ryan O’Neal Pleads Guilty To Possession Of A Controlled Substance
Ryan O’Neal plead guilty to possession of a controlled substance on Friday, Access Hollywood has learned.
The 67-year-old received 18 months deferred entry to a judgment program. A deferred entry of judgment requires O’Neal to successfully complete a drug treatment program. Once the drug program is completed, O’Neal’s charge will be dismissed.
If O’Neal were to not complete his drug treatment program, a judge would be forced to hand down a sentence for the crime he has been charged with.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Ryan and son Redmond O’Neal were charged with felony drug possession in November.
Redmond, 23, whose mother is actress Farrah Fawcett, was also charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one misdemeanor count of illegal possession of pepper spray.
Authorities arrested both men in September on suspicion of narcotics possession after discovering methamphetamine during a probation search at the senior O’Neal’s home, where Redmond O’Neal resides.
Ryan is due in court for a progress report on July 10, while Redmond’s case was continued to February 20.
