Viola Davis On Her SAG Trophy & Which Celebs Told Her They’ve Watched ‘HTGAWM’

Viola Davis picked up the Screen Actors Guild Award on Sunday night for her portrayal of Annalise Keating on “How to Get Away with Murder.”

On the ABC drama’s set on Monday, the Keating Five (Alfred Enoch, Aja Naomi King, Karla Souza, Jack Falahee and Matt McGorry), Billy Brown, who plays Nate, and Liza Weil, who plays Bonnie, were on hand as a cake was wheeled in for Viola, to celebrate her win.

Shortly before the cake cutting on set, AccessHollywood.com asked Viola where her SAG Award was.

“My husband took it this morning. We stayed at a hotel. He took it home. He loves the trophies,” she said. “He puts them all in the office and people come over. He says, ‘My wife won this in 19-this. She won this in 2000,’ and he gets so excited.”

Viola is back in her award-winning role as Annalise on Thursday night, when “How to Get Away with Murder” airs at 10/9c on ABC. The show was an early hit for ABC (of its crop of 2014-2015 freshman dramas), and Viola found out during award season that there are “HTGAWM” fans among her peers.

“There’s always people, like Meryl Streep said she saw a couple of episodes, which I’m shocked that she has time to do that,” Viola said, when Access asked if any celebs came up to her old her they watched her new show, when she ran into them at the SAGs.

Viola said she found out Gwyneth Paltrow and last year’s Best Supporting Actress Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o have also seen “HTGAWM.”

“[Lupita said,] ‘Aww! You’re great!’ and I was like, ‘You’re doing award shows! When do you have time [to watch]? But yeah, a lot of people – even men,” Viola said. “One man came up to me and I forget who. It’s a big actor. I’m forgetting because I was so nervous and I had to stop and I said, ‘You watch the show?’ It’s not a dude show, you would think. He said, ‘No, I watch it every week. It’s great.'”

“HTGAWM” returns Thursday at 10/9c on ABC.
