Michael Grimm ‘Shocked’ Over ‘America’s Got Talent’ Win; Buying House For Grandparents

Crooner Michael Grimm was still in a state of shocked when Access Hollywood caught up with the singer following his big win on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” on Wednesday night.

“Shocked, I was just shocked, there was no words, there was nothing… I was just blank. I was like did that just happen? Did this really just happen?” The 30-year-old singer said of his win. “It took me a moment, I had to make sure what was going on was real before I got excited, by any means, and I’m still in shock.”

He said his win over operatic child singing sensation and runner-up Jackie Evancho, Baroque drag performer Prince Poppycock, and frat pack performance troupe Fighting Gravity will change his life “forever.”

As for his $1 million prize, he told Access he’s planning on helping out his grandparents.

“I’m going to get my grandparents the best house ever in the world, I’m going to get them something that is functional for them, build it from the ground up for them,” he explained. “They are not physically able to do certain things and I’m gonna have that house set up for them.”

Michael wasn’t the only one in disbelief with his win.

“I was shocked to be honest, that was a real turn up and I wasn’t expecting that,” “AGT” judge Piers Morgan told Access. “I thought Jackie was going to win. But I wasn’t that surprised when I thought about it because the American public loves singers like Michael Grimm. He is a very humble, sincere, talented, genuine kind of guy.”

Howie Mandel, on the other hand, told Access he was sure Michael would clinch it.

“I’m not surprised, I’m certainly not surprised and I’m thrilled, I’m thrilled to have been a witness to this, I’m thrilled to be a small part of this and it’s so exciting to watch somebody just blossom,” he explained.

Judge Sharon Osbourne isn’t worried about the contestants who left without the million-dollar prize.

“The other 4 are going to do fabulously,” Sharon told Access.
