First Lady Laura Bush On Britney, Super Tuesday & The Super Bowl!
Despite adolescent bumps along the way, the Bush twins have finally grown into responsible young ladies. Jenna and Barbara are just one week older than Britney Spears and this morning, Maria Menounos sat down with the twins’ mom, First Lady Laura Bush. Among the things Maria asked? — How she feels, as a mom, about the Britney situation.
“Britney Spears has had a lot of troubles, you have daughters her age — what advice would you give them at this time where she’s in a crisis?” Maria asked.
“That’s very very difficult,” Mrs. Bush said. “She’s lived a very different life from nearly every other American girl her age.”
The First Lady does have one suggestion that may help Britney through this difficult time.
“What I hope is what I’m sure her own mother hopes, is that people will leave her alone,” she said.
“Do you ever feel like you want to reach out and kind of help them?” Maria asked.
“Sure,” Mrs. Bush said. “And you want to at least ask people to leave them alone.”
Meanwhile, the very public first family will soon be having a very private wedding — in May at the Bush family ranch in Crawford, Texas — for their 26-year-old daughter, Jenna.
“Who do you think will get more emotional on the big day?” Maria asked.
“I think he will — I think President Bush will. He’s pretty emotional and for a dad, when you’re daughter gets married its especially emotional.”
“Is the President a football fan?” Maria asked.
“The President is a football fan!” Mrs. Bush enthused.
“So who is he cheering for?”
“Well, he was cheering for that Texas team, the Dallas Cowboys, so [now] I think he’s cheering for either one,” she said.
“So Super Bowl or Super Tuesday – which is going to be more exciting in the house?”
“Probably Super Bowl,” she said. “Super Tuesday will be very interesting. It’s been interesting watching from the sidelinesââ¬Â¦ very interesting and fun and glad we’re not there, at least I am.”
