‘Bourne Identity’ Director Rescues Boaters On Hudson River

It wasn’t a movie set and there were no cameras rolling. But when the director of the “Bourne Identity” saw a cargo ship slam into a speedboat on the Hudson River, he jumped into action.

Movie director Doug Liman was on his sailboat with friends Wednesday morning when he saw a black cargo ship and the speedboat on a collision course. He says he watched in horror as the large craft crashed into the boat and kept going.

Liman says he motored to the scene and plucked three people out of the water. He says it was a “a close call” for the boaters who survived the crash with minor injuries.

The Coast Guard would only say it was investigating a “possible collision” between two vessels on the Hudson River.
