Raven-Symone’s Dad Pens Open Letter, Weighs In On Her ‘Inexcusable Gaffe’

Father knows best? Raven-Symone’s dad has penned an open letter in response to his daughter’s recent controversy.

The former Disney star ignited a social media firestorm on Oct. 8, when she told her “View” co-hosts on air that she would never consider a job applicant with a “ghetto” name.

“I’m not about to hire you if your name is Watermelondrea. It’s just not going to happen,” she said.

Her dad and former manager, Christopher B. Pearman, took to Facebook the following day to address the uproar.

The “Dream So Big” author explained in his public post that he has not been in charge of his daughter’s career for more than a decade, and that Raven is a fully-functioning adult more than capable of cleaning up her own messes.

“There has been much talk today about my daughters comments on her show ‘The View.’ People have been hitting me up all night questioning me about her remarks,” he said. “This woman is grown, has her own management team, has her own opinions, right or wrong, and is responsible for her own words and actions.”

While he did refer to Raven’s statements as an “inexcusable gaffe,” Christopher also came to his daughter’s defense and reminded that everyone is susceptible to committing blunders.

“I certainly don’t agree with what she said,” he wrote, “but she is damn near thirty years old. She’s a grown a** woman making grown a** mistakes. We have all been guilty of this.”

He continued, saying he’s “very proud” of Raven for being one of the “elite few child stars to last this long.”

“Raven is a really Beautiful, Sweethearted, Human Being. I should know. Her Mother and I Love her Very much and will always support her and have her back,” Christopher wrote, before summing up his thoughts with a straightforward quip of his own.

“Even if sometimes………. she says some dumb S#%T!” he added.
