Tracy Morgan Presents At Emmys: ‘It Has Been A Long Road Back’
Tracy Morgan made a surprise appearance at the Emmys on Sunday night, marking his triumphant return to the stage following his June 2014 crash.
The audience gave the former “30 Rock” star – who suffered serious injuries in the collision – an enthusiastic standing ovation as he walked to the podium to present the Emmy for Best Drama.
“Thank you. Thank you so much. I miss you guys so much,” he said. “Last year, Jimmy Kimmel sat on this stage and said we will see you back here next year, Tracy Morgan.
“Well, Jimmy, thanks to my amazing doctors and the support of my family, my beautiful new wife, I’m here, standing on my own two feet,” he continued.
Tracy – who tied the knot with Megan Wollover last month – thanked fans for their support and admitted his recovery was not an easy one.
“God bless all you for your love, your prayers and the positive thoughts over the past 15 months. Thank you. I’m honored to be at the Emmys. It’s an honor to be here. It has been a long road back,” he said. “I’ve suffered a traumatic brain injury that put me in a coma for eight days.
“I finally regained consciousness, I was just ecstatic to learn I wasn’t the one who messed up,” he joked. “Only recently I’ve started to feel like myself again, so, which means a whole lot of y’all women are gonna get pregnant at the after party.”
