Kim Kardashian Shares Outrage Over Sandra Bland: ‘This Is All Shady’

Kim Kardashian is the latest celebrity speaking up about Sandra Bland.

The reality star and soon-to-be mom of two Tweeted anger and frustration on Thursday after autopsy reports ruled Bland’s July 13 death a suicide.

“We need answers!!! This is NOT ok! This is all shady! They need to own up to this & tell the truth!” Kardashian wrote, adding hashtags #MassiveCoverUp and #WhatHappenedToSandraBland in a separate Tweet an hour later.

Bland, a Chicago native and activist, was discovered hanging in her Texas jail cell three days after being arrested in what began as a routine traffic stop. Video of her confrontation with the state trooper who pulled her over, officer Brian Encinia, shows escalating tension that culminates with Encinia threatening an increasingly upset Bland with a stun gun. Bland can be heard asking why she was being stopped, using coarse language at points, and later complaining that the officer slammed her head into the ground.

According to multiple reports, including NBC News, Bland’s family and supporters were stunned with the course of events. Despite Bland having posted a Facebook video months ago in which she discusses her “depression” and “PTSD,” relatives claimed not to have observed any behavior or warning signs that indicated she might kill herself.

The 28-year-old was in the Houston area to prepare for a new job at a local college, Prairie View A&M University – her alma mater.

Despite Encinia being transferred to desk duty after the Texas Department of Public Safety said he’d committed “violations of procedures regarding traffic stops and the department’s courtesy policy,” according to NBC News, Bland’s death ignited national uproar.

Many stars took to social media to express their outrage prior to Kardashian’s message.

“I’m still just at a loss for words, honestly, about this whole process. How this ‘switching lanes with no signal’ turned into all of this, I don’t even know,” Bland reportedly said in a voicemail to a friend on July 11.
