Charlie Sheen Admits Media Campaign Is A High; Answers Question: Is He Running Out Of Money?
Charlie Sheen claims he is drug and alcohol free, but he admitted he’s on a new high — from all the media attention — as he battles to get things started up again with “Two and a Half Men.”
In an eye-opening, 90-minute sit down interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush in the actor’s home in Los Angeles on Monday, Sheen revealed he stopped doing drugs because he became “bored” with them, a revelation prompted by new girlfriends Rachel and Natalie — whom he refers to as his “goddesses.” And, as he battles back from at-home rehab, barbs from “Two and a Half Men” creator Chuck Lorre’s vanity cards and CBS and Warner Bros. Television pulling the plug on the remainder of his show’s current season, Sheen said taking things into his own hands – with his current media blitz — and has created a new buzz in his life.
“So you left it ‘cause you’re bored. What do you get kicks on now?” Bush asked.
“Look what’s going on man,” Sheen responded.
“Are you getting high on this? The attention and all the stuff that’s happening?” Bush asked.
“Who couldn’t be? Who wouldn’t be? I’m not saying like, I thrive on it, but [if] this is the way it has to be right now, then I gotta get in the middle of it and just drive it and just stay on point,” Sheen responded.
While Sheen’s radio and TV interviews over the last few weeks have prompted a lot of attention, many suspect there is more than a chance that the actor’s moves could lead to the cancellation of the show, or even a recasting. Last week, CBS and Warner Bros. Television canceled shooting the remainder of the “Two and a Half Men” season following the actor’s radio rants, but on Monday, the actor told Bush he isn’t ready for the end of the show.
“What happens if it leads to this show going away and nobody wanting to insure you and you not getting work?” Bush asked.
“Next stop ‘Suckville’, ‘Bummerville,’” Sheen said. “Yeah, I offended the ‘Suck League.’ I don’t care man, I think the whole exchange now is funny. ‘Suckville’ vs. ‘Bummerville,’ I mean come on, the world is like burning down around us, man. Where are we stopping? ‘Suckville’ or ‘Bummerville’?
“What does your ticket say? Mine’s blank. Who’s driving this train?” Sheen continued.
Despite his interview comments of late, Sheen told Bush he remains hopeful that something can “absolutely” be worked out. Sheen added that he expects the other parties involved to even apologize.
“Yeah, and like, they’ll lead with, ‘Sorry about everything.’ Publicly,” Sheen told Bush. “If they don’t do that, then we’ll still have a dialogue about something ‘cause at the end of the day, it’s not show-hug-ness, it’s show business, right? And it’s a business dispute. But, it’s also a personal attack and it’s actually rooted in judgment and opinion. You know, my conduct and my condition? I don’t really know what that means. I think I have the First Amendment behind me.”
In recent weeks, as previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Sheen has been on a spending spree, buying four luxury cars for his lady friends and his soon-to-be ex-wife Brooke Mueller, but he admitted to Billy that there is, in fact, a bottom to his purse.
“Money, do you have a lot of it? Are you running out?” Bush asked.
“Um, no. I’m not running out, I don’t have as much as I thought I would, but I can’t really get any sympathy behind that and I don’t expect any because everybody is suffering,” Sheen said. “I’ve established some expensive tastes and lifestyles for me and my extended family and [I’d] kind of like to support those, but I’m also the guy that believes, like I’ve said, [the] situation dictates [it] and it’s time to make changes.”
