Vin Diesel ‘Dead Serious’ About Oscar For ‘Furious 7’
Vin Diesel wasn’t joking about “Furious 7” winning the 2016 Oscar for Best Picture. In fact, he couldn’t be more serious winning at the Academy Awards.
“Dead serious!” he told Access Hollywood’s Stephanie Bauer at the movie’s massive Hollywood premiere on Wednesday night.
“I think this is a movie that makes people cry, makes people laugh and the emotional thrust of this movie is not like anything else,” he explained.

The actor feels like the movie accomplishes something rarely achieved by a movie.
“Something that the Oscars never take into consideration is the ability to make an audience cheer… you never cheer in the theater, so to compound the laughing, the crying, the emotions… sooner or later you have to acknowledge the feat, the miracle that it is to pull off a movie like this.”
So what do Vin’s “Furious 7” co-stars think of their latest installment in the “Fast & Furious” franchise taking home Oscar gold?

Tyrese Gibson: “I don’t really know if the Oscars can compete with the energy that is happening here… I know a lot of people were like, ‘That’s a stretch,’ the thing is, you gotta read it as passion. It says a lot about his passion for the franchise, what we’ve been through in order for us to get here and I’m in support of that passion. If they’re handing out Oscars for someone that has some funny one-liners in a movie, then I’ll be ready to get it, but [an Oscar for my role] is a stretch.”
Jordana Brewster: “God bless, I hope so. That would be amazing. I don’t know, what [Vin] touches turns to gold.”
Jason Statham: “Vin’s been the centerpiece for this and he’s been very passionate, as all the people involved are. It’s all about the flavor — what food you like, what movies do you go see, what music do you listen to… no one’s got the right way or the wrong way. [Me at the Oscars?] Serving drinks perhaps.”
