Did Michael Jackson’s Prescription Drug Use Lead To Death? LAPD Seeking Doctor Possibly Connected To Case
As the Los Angeles County Coroner begins Michael Jackson’s autopsy multiple sources are claiming the singer’s use of prescription drugs could be behind his sudden death.
According to TMZ, a close member of Jackson’s family claims the singer received a daily injection of Demerol, a synthetic narcotic similar to morphine. TMZ reported that Jackson family members claim Thursday’s dose, which he reportedly received at 11:30 AM, was “too much” and led to his death.
According to TMZ’s corporate siblings at People, back in 2006 a Jackson family source said that the family had been deeply concerned about Michael’s drug use since 2006, when the family staged an intervention in Las Vegas.
“The family believes Michael is addicted,” a family insider told the mag back in 2006. “There was an intervention in Las Vegas. Janet was on the phone, but Randy, Jackie and Rebbie were there in person”
“Michael got p***ed off. He said he wasn’t on drugs. But they didn’t believe him,” People’s source claimed.
During the reported 2006 intervention, another source close to the Jackson family blamed an aide of the singer’s for allegedly giving Jackson prescriptions drugs obtained from numerous doctors.
”[The aide] has contacts wherever they are,” the source claimed, saying Jackson takes “straight morphine, Demerol and opiates like Oxycontin. He also takes Valium and Xanax.”
“Michael is a clinically functioning addict and these are the most dangerous,” the source said of Jackson. “They stop and start. These are the ones that OD … It could happen any minute.”
Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Access Hollywood that they spoke with an unidentified doctor who reportedly lived with Jackson. However, they are looking to speak with the doctor further for a more in-depth interview.
LAPD confirmed to Access the doctor’s car was towed and impounded because it potentially contained medications or other evidence that would assist the coroner in cause of Jackson’s death.
