Wynonna Judd Apologizes to Taylor Swift For CMA Awards Diss
Following a swipe at Taylor Swift on Wednesday before her big night at the CMA Awards, where she walked away with the Entertainer of the Year trophy, Wynonna Judd is apologizing to the 19-year-old singer.
Prior to the ceremony, Wynonna questioned if Taylor was too young to be nominated for such a prestigious award, telling USA Today that it was “too much, too soon … Time is God’s way of keeping everything from happening at once. It’s just too much of a good thing soon … I want kids to earn it.”
But on Thursday, the 45-year-old Judd apologized for her remarks.
“I understand that my comment about Taylor Swift’s Entertainer of the Year nomination came across as a negative statement. My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry… all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of ANY age,” she said in a statement posted on her Web site.
“Taylor is a beautiful, hard working young woman that deserves the success she has had,” she continued in the statement. “And I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business.”
